I purchased a 25-piece square glass spice jar kit from Amazon that came with a funnel, sift caps, labels and marker. The box was nicely packed with good cushioning inside but I still carefully checked each jar for chips and cracks. I didn’t see any so I proceeded to transfer spices from the original containers to the new glass jars.

The original spice drawer looked messy and the spices weren’t in any type of order.

When I was filling jar #16 the bottom of the glass jar popped off! Grrrr! I had to discard the jar AND the spice in it because there was no way to know if a shard of glass was in the spice (it was dill). This morning I chatted with Amazon customer service (online text chat) and told them what happened and that I wasn’t going to empty the jars I had already filled to return the set. Amazon gave me a $5 “good faith” refund.

This 25-piece square glass spice jar kit was purchased from Amazon.

I tried using the funnel for transferring one of the spices but it wasn’t worth the trouble. I had to use a lobster pick to poke the spice through the end of the funnel. And the spice adhered to the funnel and I wasn’t going to wash and wipe the funnel between spices. It was not very messy to transfer without the funnel; I just had to do it carefully.

All in all, I am very happy with the spice jar set and how organized the spice drawer is now. I love the labels that came with the spice jars. They look like black chalkboard and the marker is white. Very cool.

I went to the dollar store and bought two rolls of drawer liner in a wood-grain pattern.

I ordered another set of spice jars from Amazon, but only 14 jars this time. I think I have space for 12 more jars in the drawer.

I also ordered a set of three dividers so I can keep the spice drawer neat with all the jars lined up. Will post a photo when the drawer is complete!

I want to see your photos and hear your ideas about organizing spices! Carry on!
