Yes, I am the crazy cat lady! I admitted it a long time ago.
I am the person who stops whatever I am doing to pat a cat or play with them … no matter what!
One funny story … of many … While I was still in the hospital for physical therapy at Russell Manor, I didn’t feel well and I knew I was about to have a physical therapy session and I REALLY did not want to get out of bed, just felt like blah.
So when I heard the doctors coming down the hallway toward my room, I pretended to be asleep. Hey, we’ve all done that! Haha! So it worked, I could relax in bed. A few minutes later I heard more footsteps coming toward my room … I thought, “Oh great, I have to pretend to be sleeping again.”
So I closed my eyes as the doctor entered my room. Only this time it wasn’t my doctor. I heard a female voice saying my name to try to wake me up, I still pretended to be sleeping. Then she said, “Dana, there are kittens in the activity room from the SPCA …”
She barely finished her sentence and I was wiggling to get out of bed to my wheelchair to see the kittens! The woman was shocked that I “woke up” so fast and roll my wheelchair to see the kitties! Haha!
It’s the magic word!
So I rolled down to the activity room and played with the four kittens they had brought until they had to leave. It made my day!
I have my own two fur babies, and I have to say, they were constantly on my mind while I was in the hospital. I was so happy to be home with them. They have been my little warriors through my last 9 years. If you have pets, you know what I mean!
Last night, Murphy was in his usual spot, on me, and as I was looking at him, it dawned on me that I am his rock, as much as he has been mine. And my other little baby Bella has been there for me as well. I’m a pretty lucky gal!
This is Murphy James.
I got him at 6 weeks, this is him on the left at 7 weeks and on the right is him now at 9 years old!
I just had to share!
UPDATE: Murphy passed away. I am so sad.
