We love our pets but their fur is everywhere! I put an air purifier in my room on January 19, 2019. The manufacturer’s instruction booklet says the filters should be replaced every four months. I had to replace the filters (it has two) already! It’s only been five weeks!
The air purifier I have is a Febreze® Tower HEPA-Type Air Purifier Model FHT 190V.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
From the product’s website:
“Dual-action HEPA-type filter captures up to 99% of airborne pollutants & allergens such as dust, smoke, pollen and pet hair & dander that passes through the filter. Designed for large sized rooms, Febreze freshness scent control dial allows you to control scent intensity. Circulates & filters room air up to 5 times an hour.”
USED AND NEW FILTER COMPARISON
I’ve been running it 24/7. Obviously, my cats shed a lot.
As for my opinion of this purifier, I don’t have another purifier to compare it to, but this one has worked for me right out of the box. It’s about as loud as a fan so I have to turn my television up a little. The Febreze inserts that are made for this unit work fine. I love the scents! (Sorry Scentsy!!)
REVIEWS
I read some reviews in which people claimed they couldn’t smell the Febreze. Not sure why that would be. There is no need to even use the scent; I don’t have to run the scent on the highest setting and I can smell it just fine. I’ve changed the scent thing over a few times already though. In between having the cartridges made for this purifier, I used the clip-ons meant for car vents and those worked fine and gave me more scent options.
PRICE
I bought my unit at Walmart and it was $90 with a $50 rebate! I got the rebate within two weeks. The filters are $15 each, so kind of pricey, needing two and after only five or six weeks. The scent cartridges come two in a box for $10, so again, kind of pricey, but I do run mine 24/7…
DO YOUR RESEARCH
On a Consumer Report review site, another consumer wrote this about the Febreze air purifier unit that I use: “Got this for my son’s bedroom because he has dust allergies. The tall plastic unit is sturdy but not something I would put in the living room – white plastic is not going to go with formal decor. That said the unit is very quiet on low and medium. High is loud but compared to our big Honeywell its quieter than that too. Does a great job of filtering the air – my son noticed improvement in congestion the first night. We have no interest in using the ‘scent’ feature on this as we dont want to breath that, or smell that or have anything to do with pumping scent into our air. Good thing its easy to opt out of the scent.”
HIGH-END VERSUS OTHERS
There are a lot of high-end air purifiers that cost more than $200 and the filters for those are $60-plus. I guess you need to determine what you need the air purifier for and then read reviews.
Good luck in finding one for your home! I recommend this unit, I have breathing problems (permanent pneumonia) and I also noticed my breathing was much better the first day of using it.
