Challenge Week 9: Appliances, big and small
An organized kitchen enables easier meal preparation and clean up. We all need that!
1. Group by how frequently you use an appliance: daily, several times a week, monthly, rarely or holidays only.
Step 2
2. Within those groups, do you have appliances that can do double duty? Don’t get rid of those. TIP: Don’t buy appliances that have one use.
Step 3
3. What appliances are in your rarely used group? If you place the appliance on the countertop rather than the back of a cupboard, will you use it more frequently because it’s easier to reach?
Step 4
4. Cords should be wrapped around appliance before storing because it gives a neater appearance. Small parts can be stored in labelled clear storage bags or clear plastic shoe boxes.
Step 5
5. Use a step stool to store appliances on higher shelves. I have my big turkey roaster on full display above my cabinets, among the bird houses, baskets and big ceramic urns.
TIPS
TIP: When you purchase an appliance, find the product manual online and save the digital version as a bookmark.
Look for shelves you can add to your cabinets that will benefit your appliance storage. Check out these two items on Amazon and search around for other cool storage units.
This is a corner “garage” that hides your appliances on the countertop.
