Organizing your photos, creating displays

Do you have bare walls that need to be filled? Add groups of photos centered around themes: pets, family, nature, anything!
This is an easy project that  fills a blank space.

I bought almost all my picture frames at the dollar store. You should do the same! You don’t have to stick to one style frame, or even color. If you’re doing wedding photos, white frames are nice. For my collection of cat photos, I chose black frames. Simple frames let the photo be the focus. If you can’t get to the dollar store, you can order “dollar store picture frames” on Amazon. My mother organized 40 years (and more!) of photos. She said:

At first it was overwhelming to select photos to display from the thousands of photos I have. It was difficult to make choices that resulted in one photo going on display and 10 more photos of the same subject returned to its storage box.

Before photos could be selected for display, I thought of how photos could be grouped by themes: weddings/brides; family photos of my children and son’s girlfriend from birth to high school; parents/grandparents; ancestors (pictures of great-grandparents and older); pets, and favorite photos of fun family times.

Once the themes were decided and photos selected for each theme, a wall had to be selected for that theme. I was surprised at how little wall space I actually have. Much wall space is taken up by windows, interior doors, furniture, and so on. After a wall was selected for a themed group of photos, the photos selected for that theme had to once again be sorted because the walls just didn’t have enough space to display all the photos I had chosen for that theme.

Here’s Malahki, sitting pretty in front of the photo gallery. He knows he’s not supposed to be on the table, but he’s a cat and does what he wants.
