Is your jewelry all over the place? Gather it all to one spot where you can work to inspect your jewelry for pieces that need repair or that you no longer wear. Don’t pile your jewelry in a heap; that’s a habit you will want to stop. Make separate piles: good to use, discard, repair, or donate. Before discarding or donating your jewelry, consider using it in crafts.
After you’ve sorted your jewelry, clean it before organizing it. You will want to organize your jewelry by similarities: long necklaces, short necklaces, hoop earrings, stud earrings, bracelets, rings, etc.
Jewelry Organizer Project
I had a mini wall cabinet that had hooks inside it to hold door keys and the cabinet was mounted on the wall by a door. I decided the cabinet would make a great jewelry holder but I personalized it. I bought black paint and contact paper in a black and white floral design. I also bought two small square dishes that fit on the bottom shelf of the cabinet to hold loose change and rings.
This cabinet on Amazon is similar to the cabinet in the above photos that I personalized with paint and contact. The cabinet from Amazon has a slot you can add a photo if you wish. And it comes with 10 hooks. It can be used for jewelry or to store keys.

Some items to use for organizing:
Jewelry box, from simple to cabinet-style, like this example.

The jewelry box above can be purchased on Amazon, and the one below is the one I own. Same style, just a little bit different in design.
Stackable drawer organizers if you want to use these in a closet or drawer. If using these trays in a drawer, you may be able to stack more than one, but if you have a shallow drawer, that is okay, too.

Hanging organizer. These are handy for traveling with jewelry and make-up. Amazon affiliate https://amzn.to/4bK4Nig
Hooks to keep necklaces from tangling. I even have hooks right in the wall to hang necklaces and headbands. The necklaces are hung separately so they don’t get tangled. You can use this 50-piece set of cup hooks from Amazon affiliate https://amzn.to/3OPIeip
An alternative to separate hooks (which is good if you only need a few) is to buy a wall-mounted shelf with hooks like this one from Amazon affiliates https://amzn.to/49JUEQV
Acrylic containers if you like to see at a glance what’s in the container without opening it. Amazon affiliate https://amzn.to/3SCRAis
Jewelry dishes that you can leave out as part of your decor and where you will store the items you use everyday. For example, if you wear the same hoop earrings almost every day, it’s more convenient to have it in the dish than to place it in a container in the closet or drawer. If you already have most of these jewelry organizers, yay! To get your jewelry really organized you’ll need to invest in a few of these and whether that’s purchasing new or creating an organizer from something you already own, enjoy the process.

And here’s a tip for organizing earrings
Use buttons to keep earrings together if you are storing them loosely in a tray or drawer. This works for both hoops and studs. And this tip makes use of those awesome buttons you’ve been saving to use someday!
There are many more jewelry organizers available. Hopefully, the variety shown here in my blog post will give you inspiration for organizing your jewelry. Thanks for reading!
