Do you shop at your local thrift stores such as Goodwill? My community has a Goodwill store, Salvation Army store, a hospice pre-owned clothes and household goods store, and other fabulous secondhand shops. I like to shop at these stores and find fabulous deals and put together outfits that are classy and classic.
But, I also like to shop online. It’s a great way to know that the outfit I just purchased at a secondhand store, in excellent condition, was a great deal. I compare what I paid at the secondhand store to what is being asked for that same item at various online stores.
Make sure to visit my “shop” on my blog https://livingwithdana.com/shop/ that has affiliate links to some of my favorite online retailers.
Tips for shopping at Goodwill and other secondhand stores. Some shops may have deals of the day which you can find by looking at the color of the item’s tag. You will see signs at the store entrance that say something like, “Pink tags are 50% off today.”
Check labels! Secondhand stores have like-new brand name items like Steve Madden shoes for just a few dollars compared to $90. Win!
Always keep in mind what clothes you already have in your closet. What do you need? An update? Something new? Replace an item? Just a night out?!
Try on/or not? I regret when I don’t try on, but then donate it to a thrift shop if it doesn’t fit.
I look for classic styles or things that have a multi purpose. Work, school, casual, night out, or just chilling out.
It’s fun to shop. Always keep an eye open. Revamp old outfits and try to make one shirt into 3 different ways to wear. Blazer, jeans, boots. Fashion should be comfy and fun!
