I love doing jigsaw puzzles. I think the attraction is putting everything else out of mind and focusing on the quest of matching up one puzzle piece to the next. I always start by finding all the straight edges. Then, I arrange those straight edges by color and start trying to fit the pieces together. After the straight edges are putting together as a frame for the rest of the puzzle pieces, I go through all the pieces looking for groups of colors and then trying to fit one group together and attaching to the framed straight edges as soon as possible.

The first jigsaw puzzle was created in 1760 by John Spilsbury, a British mapmaker. He cut a map of the world into small pieces and sold them as an educational tool for children. This was the beginning of the jigsaw puzzle craze that would sweep the globe in the following decades.
What is the allure?
It’s a challenge that requires patience, focus, and attention to detail, and it can be incredibly satisfying when you finally put the last piece into place.
