Small pets, like small dogs, cats, or even older or less agile animals, might need stairs to get on the bed or couch because their
little legs often don’t have the reach or strength to jump up. Pets with short legs, like Dachshunds or Chihuahuas, can struggle to make a big leap, especially when it’s a high surface.
Additionally, some pets may have joint issues, arthritis, or other mobility problems as they age, making jumping painful or difficult. Even young, healthy small pets can sometimes have trouble if they’re not very athletic or if the bed or couch is particularly high. Stairs give them a safer and easier way to access these spots without straining their muscles or joints.
