Declutter, deep clean, and transform your kitchen storage space.
This week, I finally tackled the kitchen cabinet chaos—and the transformation was so worth it. Here’s how I emptied, cleaned, and organized my kitchen storage space, plus some expert tips and game-changing product suggestions along the way.
Week 10: Kitchen – Clean Cabinets & Drawers
- Empty and clean all kitchen drawers and cabinets.
- Wipe down the inside and outside of cabinets.
- Organize utensils, dishes, and other kitchen tools.

Step 1: Empty Everything (Yes, Everything!)
Start by completely emptying your drawers and cabinets. Lay everything out on your counters or dining table so you can see exactly what you’ve got. This step alone can be eye-opening.

Step 2: Ruthless Decluttering
As you sort through what you’ve pulled out, ask yourself:
- Have I used this in the last 6–12 months?
- Do I have duplicates?
- Does this item serve more than one purpose?
Create three piles: Keep, Donate/Sell, and Toss.

Step 3: Deep Clean Drawers and Cabinets
Once everything is out, it’s time to clean like you mean it.
Start by vacuuming out crumbs and dust using a handheld vacuum.
Wipe down all surfaces with a gentle, non-toxic cleaner.
Don’t forget the tops of cabinets and those sneaky drawer corners!
Expert Tip: For sticky messes, use a warm vinegar and dish soap mixture—let it sit for a few minutes before wiping clean.

Step 4: Strategic Organization
Now that everything is clean and decluttered, it’s time for the fun part—organizing!
Utensils & Gadgets:
Use drawer organizers or expandable dividers to separate utensils by category (e.g., cooking, baking, specialty tools).
Expert Tip: Store frequently used items in top drawers closest to your prep area. Lesser-used gadgets can go in lower or harder-to-reach drawers.

Group like items together. Stack from largest to smallest and keep everyday items on lower, easy-to-reach shelves.

The Aftermath: A Space That Works for You
