Welcome to Week 24 of the 52-Week Cleaning, Organizing, and Decluttering Challenge! This week, we’re tackling the often-overlooked bedroom hot spots: nightstands and dressers. These surfaces and drawers tend to become catch-alls for everything from spare change to forgotten receipts, so let’s get them back to being restful, clutter-free zones.
Week 24: Bedroom – Organize Nightstands & Dressers
- Clear out nightstand drawers and organize.
- Wipe down dressers and nightstands.
- Organize jewelry, books, or accessories.
- Change bedding and clean the floor.
This Week’s Tasks:
1. Clear Out Nightstand Drawers
Start by emptying out your nightstand drawers completely. Toss out any trash, relocate items that don’t belong, and group what’s left into categories: tech, reading glasses, sleep aids, etc.
Life Hack: Use small drawer organizers or adjustable dividers to keep everything in its place and avoid the dreaded “junk drawer” comeback.

2. Wipe Down Dressers & Nightstands
Dust and polish surfaces with a microfiber cloth and a wood-safe cleaner. Don’t forget to clean the drawer handles and under the furniture—dust bunnies love hiding there!
Product Pick: This all-natural wood cleaner leaves surfaces spotless without a harsh chemical smell.

3. Organize Jewelry, Books, or Accessories
Sort through jewelry, bedside books, chargers, and personal items. Keep only what you use or love—everything else can be donated, stored elsewhere, or tossed.
Quick Tip: Keep your nightstand top simple: a lamp, a current read, and maybe a tray or lidded baskets to corral small items.

Acaxin Mini Gray Bedside Lamps, Set of 2 with 3 Color Modes, USB C+A Charging Port and AC Outlet, comes with light bulbs Amazon affiliate link https://amzn.to/3TvePN9
These lamps are a lot smaller than the size I thought, but they are just right for bedside lamps. I love that they have the charging ports! One thing I hadn’t noticed until I set them up on my nightstands is that the light dimmer is a pull chain so you need to go through each brightness to get to the one you want. I had thought the dimmer would be a button on the base of the lamp. No biggie! It’s a great lamp set. Inexpensive, too!
4. Change Bedding & Clean the Floor
Fresh bedding can do wonders for your sleep and the room’s overall feel. Vacuum thoroughly under the bed and around dressers.

Pro Tip: Use It or Lose It!
If your dresser drawers are bursting at the seams, it may be time for a quick clothing purge. Set a timer for 15 minutes and see what you can let go of—you’ll be surprised how much space you can reclaim.
