My Tattoo Story (and Why I Donât Regret a Single One)
I never imagined Iâd be the kind of person with sleeves. And yet, here we are. I get a lot of questionsâespecially when I post photos in tank tops or short sleeves. âDo they all mean something?â âDid they hurt?â âDo you regret any of them?â Â Â

So once a year, I like to sit down and share the story behind my tattoosâwhere they started, how theyâve evolved, and why they still feel right for me.
It All Started with a Quiet Curiosity
For years, I admired tattoos on other people but wasn’t ready to commit. I didnât grow up with anyone in my life who had them, and I definitely wasnât sure I could ever commit to something so permanent.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I did have stories worth carrying. Not everything has to have a deep meaning, but some of mine absolutely do. Others are simply beautiful artwork that makes me feel grounded and expressive in a way nothing else quite does.

The Story Behind Lola Montez
One of my most complimented tattoos is of Lola Montezâan infamous 19th-century dancer and actress who lived life on her own terms (even when it stirred up scandal). She wasnât perfect, but she was bold. Reading her story made something in me sit up straighter. I knew she belonged in my personal collection.

She reminds me to be unapologetically myselfâon the days thatâs easy and the days itâs not.
A Few Things Iâve Learned Along the Way
- It hurts, but not forever.
Each tattoo feels different, depending on the spot and the artistâs technique. But the pain passes quickly, and the beauty lasts. - Aftercare is everything.
Take care of your skin! These are two after-the-ink lotions I have used to help my skin heal smoothly and keep the ink looking fresh.
â 1. Aquaphor Healing Ointment
-
-
Why artists love it: Provides a breathable barrier, soothes itching, helps healing fast
-
Use: Best for the first 3â5 days of healing
-
Good for: Sensitive skin, dry skin
-
Note: Some switch to lotion after initial peeling stage.

â 2. Hustle Butter Deluxe
-
Why itâs popular: All-natural, vegan, and smells like mango/coconut (but not overpowering)
-
Use: Can be used before, during, and after tattooing
-
Good for: Color tattoos, those avoiding petroleum-based products

- Tattoos spark conversation.
Some people admire them. Others⌠well, not so much. But the important part is: I didnât get them for anyone else. Thatâs kind of the whole point.

So, Should You Get a Tattoo?
Maybe. Maybe not. Thatâs totally up to you. But if youâve been thinking about itâreally thinking about itâstart a little inspiration folder, look for artists who specialize in the style you love, and give yourself permission to imagine what it would feel like to wear your story.

And if tattoos arenât your thing? Thatâs okay too. We all express ourselves in different ways. I just happen to use ink.
Are you tattooed too? Thinking about it? Iâd love to hear what your tattoos meanâor what youâd choose if you ever took the plunge.
Letâs talk ink. đ¤

Iâm not a gal who loves tattoos, however, I appreciate beautiful artwork, if I were younger I may have had a small discreet flower somewhere đ
Haha, it’s funny that a lot of people have just one tattoo, maybe people don’t know about! All of mine were pretty much hidden, but now you can see them all! đ
I absolutely love them. I have one for each of my parents on both for arms and plan on getting more!!!!
