Breathe Easy: My Favorite Air Purifiers (and the One I Can’t Buy Again!)

Hey friends! Let’s talk about something that might not look exciting—but makes a big difference in your day-to-day life: air purifiers. If you’ve got allergies, pets, or just want to cut down on dust and dander, an air purifier can be a total game-changer.    

I’ve been using them in my home for years, and I can honestly say they’ve helped me breathe easier—especially during pollen season or after a good deep clean.

My Old Faithful (RIP Febreze FHT190V)

I originally bought the Febreze® Tower HEPA-Type Air Purifier (Model FHT190V) at Walmart years ago for $90—with a $50 rebate that actually came through! It wasn’t perfect (those filters and scent cartridges added up 💸), but I ran it 24/7 and it did a great job keeping the dust and dander from my two beloved cats under control.

Honeywell is a classic brand for a reason. This tower model is great for bedrooms or offices and doesn’t take up much space. It also has multiple cleaning levels, including turbo for those days when the windows have been open and you’re feeling sneezy.

This one includes a UV sanitizer, which is a nice bonus for people with pets, kids, or just a high-traffic household. It has a smart air quality monitor and does a great job removing dust, dander, and seasonal pollen.

What I’ve Learned

No matter which one you choose, here’s what I’ve found makes the biggest difference:

• Look for a True HEPA filter—it’s worth it.

• Replace your filters when recommended (I set a reminder in my phone).

• Run it consistently, especially during allergy season or when you’re vacuuming/dusting.

• Skip the scent cartridges and go with a separate diffuser if you like fragrance. It’s easier on your wallet and your lungs.
