Week 38 Cleaning Challenge: Kitchen Love — Deep Clean Your Garbage Disposal, Sink & Floors

Ready to roll up those sleeves and give your kitchen some serious TLC? This week’s challenge is all about making your kitchen sink area sparkle and feel fresh from top to bottom.  

Sometimes it’s the overlooked spots — like the garbage disposal — that can make a huge difference in your kitchen’s overall vibe (and your peace of mind).

Why deep clean your garbage disposal?

Let’s be real: garbage disposals don’t exactly get a spa day every week. They’re the unsung heroes of the kitchen, grinding up all kinds of food scraps and sometimes, well, let’s just say, less-than-pleasant odors can sneak in. A thorough cleaning not only helps keep it smelling fresh but can also extend its life and keep it running smoothly.

Your Week 38 To-Do List:

1. Deep Clean the Garbage Disposal

   • First, make sure it’s turned off!

   • Use a disposal brush or an old toothbrush to scrub the inside edges.

   • Grind up some ice cubes with a handful of coarse salt to remove gunk and sharpen the blades.

   • Follow that with a citrus peel (like lemon or orange) to freshen things up.

   • Rinse with hot water.

2. Wipe Down the Sink & Faucet

   • Use your favorite kitchen cleaner or a natural mix of baking soda and vinegar.

   • Scrub and polish until your sink gleams.

   • Don’t forget the faucet handles and any grooves where grime can hide!

3. Clean the Kitchen Floors

   • Sweep or vacuum thoroughly.

   • Mop with a cleaner that suits your floor type.

   • Bonus points for tackling those stubborn spots!
