Hi friends! Can you believe we’re already at Week 40 of our year-long home refresh challenge? This week, we’re focusing on a part of your living room that often gets overlooked but makes a huge difference: your walls, baseboards, and light fixtures. Let’s make them sparkle!

Week 40: Living Room – Clean Walls & Baseboards

Your living room walls and baseboards quietly collect dust, fingerprints, and little smudges that can make the space feel dull—even if everything else is spotless. Here’s how to tackle them efficiently:

1. Dust & Clean Baseboards

  • Quick dusting: Use a microfiber cloth or a duster with an extendable handle to remove loose dust.

  • Deep clean: Mix warm water with a little dish soap, dip a sponge or soft cloth in the solution, wring it out, and wipe the baseboards. For stubborn grime, a magic eraser works wonders—but test on a small area first!

  • Tip: Keep a damp cloth handy while cleaning to wipe shoes or hands if you stir up dust—you’ll thank yourself later.

2. Spot Clean Walls

  • What to use: Mild soap and water, or a diluted all-purpose cleaner, is usually enough to tackle fingerprints or minor stains.

  • Gentle touch: Always start with a soft cloth or sponge. For textured walls, a soft-bristled brush helps reach grooves.

  • Hack: For high-traffic areas near doors or light switches, wipe walls monthly—it prevents build-up and keeps the room looking fresh.

3. Dust Light Fixtures & Ceiling Fans

  • Easy dusting: Slip a pillowcase over ceiling fan blades, pull it back, and the dust comes right off.

  • Extra sparkle: Wipe light fixtures with a damp microfiber cloth or use a glass cleaner on glass shades.

By the end of Week 40, your living room will feel brighter, fresher, and welcoming for cozy evenings or guests.
