DIY Pumpkin Wreath Made with Gauze Ribbon

There’s something so satisfying about crafting a seasonal wreath that looks like it came straight from Etsy—but knowing you made it yourself for a fraction of the price!

🍂 In my latest video, I hung this pumpkin wreath on the front door, and I have to say, it makes the whole entryway feel instantly cozy. The best part? It’s simple, inexpensive, and can easily transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving with just a few tweaks.

The wreath started with only a Halloween ribbon.

This pumpkin wreath was so easy to make — and I love that it can stay up well past Halloween. I started with a Halloween ribbon for decoration, but once I realized how cute it was, I grabbed my glue gun and some silk flowers so I could keep it up for fall and Thanksgiving, too.

The Halloween ribbon was removed so the wreath can be used all of September and November and during October a Halloween ribbon can make it spooky again.

When I looked online for similar wreaths, I found a few that looked almost identical — one selling on Etsy for $45 and another for $99! If you can put together this wreath with just a few inexpensive supplies, you’ll save yourself a lot of money and get to flex your creative side at the same time.

What You’ll Need

  • Florist wire
  • Twine – Craft 3-Ply Flexible Cord Jute Twine, 100-Yds, Natural or Green. Walmart affiliate link https://walmrt.us/4oEEYpB

  • 6-inch cardboard tube (from toilet paper)
  • Shiny orange tulle – Walmart has the 5.5-inch-wide, 10-yard roll available in-store only. Affiliate link https://walmrt.us/46QrFMz

  • Optional for the stem: use a small branch, or make your own from modeling clay and paint it using this acrylic craft paint set. Walmart affiliate link for clay https://walmrt.us/479s3or

  • Acrylic Paint Set, 2oz 24 Colors Acrylic Craft Paint with 12 Brushes. Walmart affiliate link for paint set https://walmrt.us/4nK0TeI

How to Make It

  1. Wrap the tulle around your wreath form, securing it with florist wire in small, hidden spots.
  2. Create the pumpkin stem by wrapping the cardboard tube with twine, then gluing it to the top of your wreath.
  3. Add green tendrils. Cut a length of green twine, tie it around the stem once or twice, and let about 9 inches dangle in front.
  4. Decorate! Glue on silk flowers, leaves, berries, and pine cones near the top of your “pumpkin.”
Hang it up. Use the wreath form itself or attach florist wire to the back.

Optional: Add a removable bow — one for Halloween and another for Thanksgiving.

That’s it! Your new wreath is ready to hang. And if you’re curious, go ahead and Google “orange tulle pumpkin wreath.” You’ll see how much you just saved by DIYing this one — plus, yours will be way cuter.

Have a great day! xoxo, Dana
