Habit + Home: 1 Year to a Smarter Space
Tagline: One habit. One zone. One week at a time.
Hey friends! I’ve been dreaming up something new for the coming year — something gentler than a full “house overhaul,” but more powerful than a basic weekly cleaning prompt.
Think of it as the glow-up your home and your habits have been waiting for.
Welcome to the Organized Life Challenge — my new year-long series designed to help you build a home that practically runs itself (or at least tries its best, we’re aiming for progress, not perfection).
This isn’t just “clean this room this week.”
It’s: build a system that keeps you comfortable all year.
Organization without punishment.
Structure without stress.
And plenty of little wins along the way.
What the Challenge Looks Like Each Week
Every week, you’ll get three things:
1. A small, achievable task
Something tiny but mighty — room-based or routine-based.
A drawer, a shelf, a surface. A paper sweep. A 10-minute tidy.
The things that make you say, “Oh… that was doable.”
2. A habit to build alongside it
Because systems matter! A few examples you’ll see throughout the year:
-
The Evening Reset (trust me, this one changes everything)
-
A Mail + Paper Sweep
-
A Sunday Set-Up
-
The 15-Minute Home Tidy
-
The One-Minute Rule
You’re not just cleaning — you’re creating a rhythm your future self will thank you for.
3. A tracker prompt
If you’re using any of my journals, planners, or printable habit trackers, you can mark your progress as you go. A few checkboxes, a place to celebrate your wins, or a spot to jot a note like, “Hey, I actually did it!”
(And yes — the Habit + Home planner coming to Amazon fits this perfectly.)
Why This Challenge Works
Because it taps into three things we already want:
✨ A more organized space
✨ A less-stressed life
✨ A routine that holds up even on bananas-level busy weeks
And it overlaps beautifully with our Wednesday cleaning/organizing posts, but it also gives us room to play with new territory like habit building, morning and evening routines, and small systems that make life easier.
Basically, you get a simpler home and a smoother life, one week at a time.
How My Books, Planners & Printables Fit In
This challenge plays so nicely with everything we’re already building in the Living with Dana world.
-
The Cleaning, Organizing & Decluttering Workbook → Think of it as your deeper-dive companion. Chapters like the kitchen zone guide pair perfectly with our kitchen-system weeks.
-
The Habit + Home Journal/Planner → Use the weekly habit trackers and system checklists to stay on track.
-
Etsy Printables → Some weeks will include optional printable checklists or worksheets you can grab if you want a little extra structure. (Craft supplies week? I’ve got you.)
You’ll see references throughout the year like:
“See Chapter 4 of Book 1 for more on this week’s habit,” or “Printable checklist available in the Etsy shop if you’re feeling extra motivated this week!”

- You’ll refresh your skincare area.
- You’ll tidy hobbies and crafts.
- You’ll declutter the fridge and overhaul the spice cabinet.
- You’ll create manageable routines for your wardrobe, beauty items, pantry, laundry, and everything in between.
And yes, if you’ve ever lost your favorite lipstick to the depths of your purse — I see you, and yes, there will be a week just for you.
I cannot wait to take this next step with you.
