Living with pneumonia

One of my worst fears is coming down with a cold and struggling to breathe. The doctor told me I would go into a panic when it happens.

The pneumonia isn’t going away quickly. There was no change at my last six-week visit so the doctor took me off the antibiotics for the pneumonia. Seems I have plateaued.

The X-ray image with this blog post was taken Sept. 27, 2018. I had another set of X-rays taken Jan. 7, 2019 at which time the doctor said the antibiotics weren’t making a difference.

You can see the big glob of pneumonia in one lung. The X-rays from DAY ONE, July 17, 2018, showed my lungs completely white and full of pneumonia. How I survived is a miracle.

Many doctors and specialists stopped in my ICU room during my 45-day stay just to see the “miracle” pneumonia/sepsis/brink of death survivor.

I just put an air purifier in my room. Have you used one?

I didn’t know which one to get. Even though it will be used in my bedroom (cat fur, dust, fur, dust), and my bedroom is average size, I am using one meant for medium to large rooms. It’s quieter than some fans. It doesn’t scare the cats.

CLICK HERE to buy the same one I got at Walmart. You can use special Febreze cartridges in it so that it not only cleans the air with HEPA-type filters but it also masks odors (kitty litter!).

I’m hoping that it will get rid of all the fur and dust in the air that might be irritating my weakened lungs.

I started using my nebulizer again this week. It had been a few weeks since I last used it. But now that I’m not on antibiotics I don’t want to take any chances. The nebulizer helps me cough up junk. Hopefully it will help clear out the last of the pneumonia.
