During the pandemic, Thanksgiving specifically, we had the family over for turkey and all the fixings. After taking the turkey out of the oven, my mom and I were making gravy in the ceramic-coated roasting pan, using two burners on the glass-top stove. We heard an odd noise, like glass cracking.
We lifted the pan. Well, we tried to lift the pan, but it was stuck to the glass top. With a tug it came free, but so did some of the glass which stuck to the bottom of the pan! We transferred the gravy to gravy boats and decided to clean up the mess after enjoying our big meal.
Getting a new stove as the stores were slowly re-opening from the pandemic closings was very difficult. There was very little choice in stores and delivery was weeks away. My parents went to Lowe’s and were fortunate to find an in-stock Kitchen Aid stove that was the right size and had all the features they wanted. They took it home right away.
Another glass top, but now we know not to recreate that same scenario that made for a gravy-making disaster.
If you’re looking for a new glass-top stove, this is the one in my kitchen: 30-in Glass Top 5 Burners 6.4-cu ft Self-Cleaning Convection Oven Freestanding Electric Range (Stainless Steel with Printshield Finish). Check my Lowe’s affiliate link https://fave.co/4amx2CA The stove is currently on sale at Lowe’s through April 10 for $999, regular $1,399. You can order online and pick it up in the store. Some areas will deliver.
Today’s challenge is to thoroughly clean your stove top and oven, including the oven door. To do that you need the right products. See my links below. I used The Pink Stuff creamy paste in the tub. It smells citrusy-grapefruity. I read the directions. I didn’t use gloves. I also had a clean rag on hand to wipe off the creamy paste. I scooped a bit of the cleaner onto a moistened sponge and spread it over the top of the stove.
Then, I used the scrubbing side of the sponge and went back and forth and in circular motions over the glass stovetop, without putting too much pressure on the scrubby. The paste sort of disappears as you rub it over the stovetop. I wet the rag with hot water and wrung out the excess water and then wiped off the paste. I love the shine! The glass stovetop looks like new.
Next, I tackled the inside and outside of the door. I used the same method as I did for the stovetop. The door’s window looks like new! I love this cleaner! There wasn’t much elbow grease needed. So if you’re looking for a project that won’t be tiresome AND makes a difference in your kitchen, take the oven cleaning challenge. Let me know how you do!

Look around at the related items on the product page, just for fun. There’s a holder for the sponge that looks like a smile face! So cute! There’s also a gripper that can be attached to a sponge so that it has a handle. Lots of neat products you might not think about, but when you see them, you can tell they make cleaning jobs easier. And thus, life is sweeter!
