Friendship Cakes are so delicious! The 10-day-investment in making the starter dough is worth the time, because the cake is one of a kind.
You can print the recipe for the starter dough which includes a daily checklist for the dough starter steps. It prints on two sheets of 8.5×11 paper unless you can print 2-sided.

Print several and keep them in a plastic sheet protector in your 3-ring recipe notebook. You started a recipe notebook, right? If not, put it on your organizing challenge list.
Ignore the fork in the photo! It was used for something else and I forgot to take it off the dish towel. No metal to be used in any of the steps in this starter dough. I actually used the 1/4 teaspoon to stir the yeast in the warm water and a plastic spatula to blend all the mixtures together in that tall glass container at the back of this photo.
