Best Banana Bread

Use overripe bananas in this easy-to-make delicious banana bread recipe.

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • sifting bowl
  • measuring spoons and cups
  • electric mixer
  • spatula
  • nonstick loaf pans
  • parchment paper

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup shortening or butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 bananas beaten until creamy and set aside

Instructions
 

  • Cream shortening /butter and sugar, adding the sugar to the butter gradually.
  • Add eggs to the shortening/sugar mixture one at a time, beating well.
  • Sift dry ingredients: flour, soda, salt. Add to egg mixture alternately with the creamed bananas.
  • Turn into greased loaf pan.
  • Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Notes

Serve warm or cold. Great for breakfast or dessert. Makes great hostess gift. Line the loaf pan with parchment paper or spray it before filling it with the batter. Can add chopped walnuts or chocolate chips, too. Tried, tested, and tasted in the Living With Dana kitchen and found to be delicious!
